Guest Information

We are very grateful to our guests, especially those of you who would literally go an extra mile and travel all the way from where ever you are to attend and witness the most important day of our lives. Your presence would mean a lot to us both :’)

To help you plan for your travel arrangements (read: getaway trip!), we’ve compiled some information for your reference. You may also read more about the city on the next page.

Transportation

The safest and the most convenient way to get around in Medan is by car.

Book a Blue Bird

Call (62) (61) 846 1234 to book a taxi. Blue Bird Group is the only reliable and trusted taxi company in town. However due to limited fleet, expect a minimum waiting time of 20 mins. Therefore, we’d like to strongly advise you to call at least 30 mins in advance. The fare is meter-based, however the minimum fare for on-call trip is IDR25,000. Have a quick read on the safety tips, and contact customer care centre at (62) (61) 844 2666 should you need assistance.

Rent a car

If you want to explore Medan, especially if you travel in a group, renting a car might be a more economical option. You may rent a car with or without a driver. However, do note that not all of the streets in Medan are detected by GPS or Google Maps. Therefore, if you’re not familiar with the city, we’d suggest renting a car with a driver. The rental rate/day for a mini MPV car (e.g. Toyota Avanza) is about IDR250,000, and IDR350,000 with a driver. Here are some websites offering car rental services:

We’d suggest reading their terms and conditions carefully (inclusive of fuel? driver’s meals? surcharges? tipping? etc) to avoid any miscommunication.

Our two seven cents on your safety on the road:

  • Although cycle/auto rickshaws or becak rides could be interesting for some of you to try, please avoid trying it without the company of a local friend. Even so, avoid having the ride in the evenings at all cost.
  • Please avoid walking alone on the streets and alleys, especially so for ladies. Even if you are in a group, please avoid evening walks.
  • Be very careful when the sun is out, but be extremely careful when the sun is gone.
  • Public transportation is not reliable in any way. As the saying goes, “When you’re in Rome, do as the Romans do”, let us tell you what we do (not). Like most of the locals, we do not ride public transportation. Enough said.
  • Please keep your valuables out of sight (e.g. jewellery, wallet, camera, mobile phone, iPad and the likes) when you’re on the road.
  • Do not text and drive walk when you’re on the road. Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
  • Be careful with your bag when you’re on the road. Keep it zipped and buckled. When you walk on the left side of the street, carry it on your left, vice versa.
